Cool Christmas tunes

If you think that Merry Christmas Everyone by Slade, White Christmas by Bing Crosby, or A Spaceman Came Travelling by Chris de Burgh qualify, please read no further. Or if you think that the Boss's version of Santa Claus is Coming to Town beats those listed, or if you prefer Chuck Berry's Run Rudolph to Keef's..... I like some of Madonna's stuff, but if you were about to list her version of Santa Baby, you've also disqualified yourself......

But if not, can you add to the following list:

Back Door Santa B.B. King & John Popper
Blue Christmas Sheryl Crow
Christmas Blues Traveler
Christmas All Over Again - Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers
Christmas Blues John Popper With Eric Clapton
Christmas In Hollis Run DMC
Christmastime is here Diana Krall
Do You Hear What I Hear? Whitney Houston
Driving Home For Christmas Chris Rea
Happy Christmas (War Is Over) John Lennon
Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas Harry Connick Jr
Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas Diana Krall
Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas The Pretenders
I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus John Cougar Mellencamp
Jingle Bells Diana Krall
Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow Dean Martin
Merry Christmas Baby Sheryl Crow With Eric Clapton
Merry Christmas Baby Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band
Merry Christmas Baby Bonnie Raitt And Charles Brown
Merry Christmas Everybody Oasis
Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree Mary J. Blige And Sheryl Crow
Rudolph The Rednosed Reindeer Gene Autry
Run Rudolph Run Keith Richards
Run Rudolph Run Bryan Adams
Run Rudolph Run Sheryl Crow
Run Rudolph Run Dave Edmunds
Santa Baby Cynthia Basinet
Santa Baby Eartha Kitt
Santa Claus Is Coming To Town The Pointer Sisters
Santa Claus Is Coming To Town Frank Sinatra & Cyndi Lauper
Santa Claus Is Coming To Town Mary J. Blige, Jon Bon Jovi, Tracy Chapman, Eric Clapton, Sheryl Crow, John Popper, Run DMC, Vanessa Williams
Winter Wonderland Harry Connick Jr
Winter Wonderland Eurythmics
Winter Wonderland Aretha Franklin

and we can be as rude as we like about the above, if we disagree. I'm a big boy.

what about cheech and chong's little christmas bit?
the hannukah (sp?) song-adam sandler

It KILLS me that I can't list Bruce's version Santa Claus is coming to town--the single greatetst christmas song ever, hands down. My Christmas is not complete without hearing it "Clarence, you been good this year? maybe Santa will bring you a new saxaphone"

And I second the vote foro the Charlie Brown Christmas Album. what a great album. watched the cartoon with my kids over the weekend and just get a kick out of watching the kids dance. makes me smile every time.

The traditional Christmas songs recorded by Nana Mouskouri are absolutely wonderful. I had never heard of her until a friend recommended her and her voice is exceptionally lovely. Some of her songs are available at the iTunes store.

And you get one, too, just for mentioning the W word.

Another highly cool Christmas tune is:

"This Christmas" by Macy Gray

and though her vocal gymnastics are way too far 'over the top', and though she's irritating, Christina Aguilera has done epic versions of 'Have Yourself a Very Merry Xmas' and 'Merry Xmas'.

Frank Sinatra has sung more Christmas songs than Cliff Richard and each and every one of them is a Christmas cracker!

Elvis croons a good "I'll be home for Christmas" and I'm quite partial to Chris Rea's "driving home for Christmas".

Joining the cheesey ranks are David Essex with Winters Tale and Queen's Thank God its Christmas.
